NPSR worked with a select community school design committee in the programming phase of the project. Surveys and public forums were conducted. The result is a state-of-the-art Middle School complete with 15 Classrooms, seven Laboratories, Media Center, Cafeteria, Kitchen, Gymnasium, Locker Rooms and Administrative Support Areas. |

The exterior ties the facility to the existing 40 acre campus by combining the brick from the High School and the stucco from the Elementary School. The red curved canopies add a unique element to the Middle School which is all its own. |

The interior color scheme reflects Loving's school colors of black and red. The door frames are red with black and red lockers in the corridors. The corridors have a geometric black, red and gray tile pattern with accent graphics at intersections and skylights. The Classrooms are typically 30' x 30' with one wall of upper and lower cabinets, a teacher's wardrobe and storage cabinet, sink, two 12' marker boards, wall mounted TV and power and data outlets. All classrooms are carpeted and have a large window with red blinds. |
The Cafeteria has a performance platform, exposed ceiling and north windows that look out into a landscaped courtyard. The adjacent serving Kitchen is equipped with a Serving Line, Preparation Area, Dishwashing Area, Office, Walk-in Cooler, and Walk-in Freezer, Toilets and Laundry. |
The Media Center is adjacent to the Cafeteria to promote interaction of students in their free time. The Gymnasium supports seating for 400, hardwood basketball, volleyball, and two practice courts each. Boys' and Girls' Locker Rooms are provided with Toilets, Showers, and Offices. Laboratories include two Computer, two Science, one Mathematics, Industrial Arts, Family Consumer Arts, and an Art Room with a kiln. |

A $3.8 million renovation of the Natatorium included new mechanical, electrical and pool systems, new gutters, roof, deck and new HVAC units to the east Gymnasium

A state-of-the-art dehumidification HVAC unit was installed to control the pool climate. An ultraviolet purification system, along with new pumps and sand filters and main drains, were installed to surpass the environmental regulations and provide a much lower chlorine level resulting in a more enjoyable swimming experience. The water level was raised to deck level with a new gutter system creating a safer, faster pool. |
